Published on Mar 18, 2014 Appearing by telepresence robot, Edward Snowden speaks at TED2014 about surveillance and Internet freedom. The right to data privacy, he suggests, is not a partisan issue, but requires a fundamental rethink of the role of the internet in our lives — and the laws that protect it. "Your rights matter," he say, "because you never know when you're going to need them." Chris Anderson interviews, with special guest Tim Berners-Lee.(founder of world wide web)

Ordinary Vegan Stuffed Cabbage Rolls — Ordinary Vegan

Ordinary Vegan Stuffed Cabbage Rolls — Ordinary Vegan:

'via Blog this' The animal protein boom started in the 1800s. People wanted to eat animals because their physical prowess was such that people thought if they ate them they would get the same characteristics such as body size, strength and agility. Animal proteins were thought of as “higher quality”. Later in the eighteenth century, with the development of modern chemistry, they discovered the most crucial function of protein is nitrogen, in addition to the 22 different types of amino acid in protein that the body needs to function properly. It was thought at the time that the higher BV (biological value) in animal protein was more efficient and contained amino acid profiles similar to humans. Then in 1983 came the 20-year project called The China Study. The China Study was the one of the most challenging and most comprehensive studies ever undertaken on the relationship between diet and the risk of developing disease. I…

And You Think Vegan's Are Extreme

Question? How many of you could go out and slit an animals throat? For those of you who say no you could not do that then why be party to the karma of that killing? Why take in that frightened fearful adrenaline charged blood? Do you think it does good for your body or damage? I will answer for you, damage is the correct answer. Do you think period? Or do you just go along like a zombie not really asking any questions?

Fantastic article well written......Last month, when Eliza Muirhead — who is currently working aboard Sea Shepherd’s Steve Irwin – wrote a feature for Our Hen House entitled “You’re Lucky to Love What You Do”: My Journeys On and Off the Sea Shepherd’s Steve Irwin, many of you joined us in being both smitten and awed by this changemaker’s stories from the front lines. In today’s second installment of Eliza’s three-part series, she writes from the Ross Sea — the “bottom of the world” — where she has what you might call a unique vantage point from which to ruminate on animal sentience.

More Than A Dozen Groups Sue Idaho Over Its New 'Ag Gag' Law, Saying It Violates Free Speech | ThinkProgress:

'via Blog this'

Ag-Gag laws, what are they? They are laws to threaten and punish anyone showing the abuse or cruelty via pictures or filming in factory farms. What are they? Orwellian laws to hide horrible abuse of animals. Please fight against ag-gag laws. This is a violation of freedom and our ability to know what abuses exist. To prevent people from gathering information about abuse is dark and archaic and yet ag-gag laws are quickly spreading like a grass fire that we must stamp out. We do not want to go back to the dark ages do we? Then stand up and be counted. These abuses of animals should not be secret.  These laws should not exist.

Foods of Life and Death

Have you ever noticed the colour of the produce section compared to the meat section in a grocery store? The body does acquire from the foods that are eaten the basic material for the construction of the physical body at all levels and all stages. As the food is absorbed through the digestion, it breaks down into the chemical compounds needed to create the blood. The blood then is used to build the cells of the body. The process continues after the cells are made, and from the life cells of the body, other cells that are non-corporeal, not physical, are then produced. These are cells of the Light Body. The Light Body process is two-way in a matter of speaking. The physical creates through the energetics of the digestion of food, the building of blood cells, the building of body cells, the energies to also help the maintenance of the Light Body and the creation of the Light Body, in a manner of speaking. This is a two-way street and thus the Light Body, which is already in existence,…

Turkey farm video shows ‘gaping hole’ in government animal welfare oversight - CBC News - Latest Canada, World, Entertainment and Business News:

Hidden camera footage, secretly recorded at an Ontario turkey breeding farm, is raising troubling questions about the lack of government oversight of animal welfare standards. The footage, shot by a member of the group Mercy for Animals Canada who got a job with the farm, was shared with CBC Marketplace. It appears to show birds with large open wounds, an employee advising the undercover worker to kick birds and failed euthanizations. One euthanization caught on tape shows an employee hitting a bird repeatedly with several objects, including a shovel, over the course of several minutes after an initial attempt to use an authorized tool failed. .... It is my hope that one day the majority of humans on this planet develop a brain, a brain free of brainwashing and mind programming, a brian one with the heart of compassion and decency, a brain capable of rising to heights of human potential as shinning stars in the firmament not black smouldering coals mingled underfoot, flickering on and off, toward a coldness of a past long forgotten.
